SENCO Support at Little Pips
At Little Pips, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
Meet Our SENCO: Jess
Jess is our dedicated SENCO, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise in supporting children with a diverse range of needs. With a deep understanding of early childhood development and special educational needs, Jess works closely with families, educators, and external professionals to create individualized support plans that meet the unique needs of each child.
Our Approach to SEND Support
At Little Pips, we believe in early intervention and personalized support to maximize each child’s potential. Our SENCO collaborates with parents/carers, teachers, and external agencies to identify any areas where a child may require additional support. Through ongoing assessment, observation, and dialogue, we develop tailored strategies and interventions to address these needs effectively.
Inclusive Learning Environment
We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where all children feel valued, respected, and supported. Our SENCO works closely with our team of educators to ensure that our curriculum, teaching methods, and resources are accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities or challenges. We promote a positive and nurturing atmosphere where every child can learn and grow at their own pace.
Partnerships and Collaboration
We recognize the importance of partnership and collaboration in supporting children with SEND. Our SENCO liaises with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to access additional expertise and resources when needed. We also provide support and guidance to parents/carers, empowering them to be active participants in their child’s learning journey.
The Little Pips Pre-School works to the requirements of current legislation, including:
SEN Code of Practice (2001) (Green Paper Review 2011- 2012 awaiting consultation review)
The Disability Discrimination Act (2005)
The Childcare Act (2006)
The Equality Act (2010)
Continuous Professional Development
To ensure that we maintain the highest standards of support for children with SEND, our team undergoes regular training and professional development. Our SENCO leads in-house training sessions, workshops, and reflective practice sessions to enhance our understanding of SEND and implement best practices in our provision.
